It’s Valentines Day and love is in the air everywhere. So we made some sugar cookies in the shape of hearts, to eat and to share. The decoration possibilities for these cookies are endless – just use your imagination. Get the kids involved and give these cookies a try.

Sugar Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 2 eggs well beaten
- 2½ cups flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 2 tsp. cream of tartar
- ½ tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350F
- In a large bowl, cream sugar & butter until fluffy. Add the well-beaten egg and vanilla. Gradually add in the dry ingredients (flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, salt & vanilla) and mix thoroughly. Create a big ball with the dough.
- Spread some flour on a smooth surface and roll out some of the dough and use a heart shaped cookie cutter to create heart cookies. Brush with some milk and add sprinkles & candy for decorations.
- Place cookies on ungreased baking sheets and bake for about 12-15 minutes or until golden.
- Allow cookies to stand for a couple of minutes before placing them on a wire rack to cool.
Notes
If you want to decorate with frosting, allow the cookies to bake and cool fully.
